Niam Real Estate and Nordfeldt have broken ground on 131 new rental apartments in central Upplands Väsby, north of Stockholm. Representatives from Niam, Nordfeldt and Upplands Väsby Municipality gathered for the ceremony to mark the importance of the project for the continued development of central Väsby.

The new residential development is designed with a focus on classical urban architecture, inclusive living environments and long-term sustainability. Within walking distance of commuter rail services, Väsby Centrum and surrounding green areas, the development will become a natural part of the cityscape and contribute to a more vibrant central Väsby. First move-ins are planned for summer 2028.

“New homes in central locations should make a positive contribution to everyday life for the residents of Väsby. This development will be an important piece of the puzzle in the continued development of central Väsby,” says Mathias Bohman (S), Chair of the Municipal Executive Board of Upplands Väsby.

“The ambition has always been to create a development that makes the most of the qualities of the site, combining thoughtful architecture with living environments that work well and stand the test of time. We now look forward to seeing the development take shape,” says John Lindell, CEO of Nordfeldt.

“Breaking ground marks an important step in the development and shows how long-term plans are translated into tangible development on the ground. We now look forward to taking the project forward, with a focus on quality, progress and long-term value creation,” says Roger Nilsson, Project Manager at Niam.

Niam already has an established presence in Upplands Väsby and is, among other things, the owner of Väsby Centrum. Several redevelopment projects are currently underway in the centre, where Niam has signed agreements with several new tenants. Adjacent to Väsby Centrum, a planning process is also underway to enable the development of approximately 600 new homes, commercial premises, a parking garage and a pre-school. Together with the new residential development, these projects form part of the long-term development of central Upplands Väsby.

The development comprises a total of 7,104 square metres of residential space, with apartments ranging from one to four rooms and a kitchen. The project also includes commercial space and a garage with parking spaces. The buildings will be certified according to Miljöbyggnad Silver and achieve energy class B.

NEXCON is the main contractor and Kaminsky Arkitektur is the architect.
