GRESB is a globally recognized benchmark that assesses and compares the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and management of real estate companies and funds. The assessment provides investors and managers with a framework for evaluating sustainability performance and identifying opportunities for further improvement.
“Strong sustainability performance is built on consistent, long-term work. We have continued to develop our strategies, strengthen our processes and improve how we measure and manage sustainability across our portfolio. Core-Plus III’s improved score and five-star rating are encouraging evidence of this progress, while Core-Plus II continues to demonstrate a high level of performance,” says Gustav Thörnqvist, Sustainability and Quality Manager at Niam.
Niam’s sustainability strategy is closely linked to its ambition to create long-term value across its investments. The firm has set targets for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from operation of standing assets and from new construction by 2045. Ongoing efforts include improving the collection, analysis and reporting of sustainability data, enabling more informed decisions and helping identify opportunities to enhance asset performance.
“Our ambition is to deliver strong financial returns through measurable progress on sustainability. We see sustainability as an integral part of how we manage our investments, with a focus on improving net operating income, strengthening asset resilience and creating long-term value for our investors. The GRESB results are an important benchmark for our work, and we will continue to build on this progress,” Gustav Thörnqvist adds.
