Our history

Almost three decades of delivering consistent value

In 1998, Urban Edenström founded Niam in Stockholm with a simple but ambitious idea: real estate could be managed differently. Institutional real estate investing in the Nordics was still developing, while Niam was among the first to introduce real asset private equity to the region. Urban had already helped shape that market as the founder of Newsec, one of the region's leading real estate advisory firms, and Datscha, a pioneering digital platform for real estate market data and insights.

With this background, he saw an opportunity to bring an entrepreneurial mindset to investing. Niam was created to introduce a more active, private equity-style approach to real assets.
